I have been a patient at psychiatry UK for around three years. I was referred by my GP through NHS Right to Choose and couldn’t believe how quick I received my appointment and then was able to get diagnosed with ADHD. I didnt need any further support until around 5 months ago when I felt it was time to try medication. I went back into my portal and requested to receive medication and was referred to the tritiation team, within weeks I was updated with where I was in the process and a few more after that my first prescription was issued. My prescriber Rebecca Salazar would answer all my questions so clearly and quickly. I would upload a note on my portal and within days have received an answer. Whenever I had any issues and wanted to change my medication I would be listened to and the change would happen. My meds were delivered within a week and regular check ins on the portal were always happening. I really don’t know where I would be without Rebecca, despite only engaging through the portal, she was very good at her job and getting me to where I needed to go on my journey with ADHD meds. Credit to her!

Good service, I think I was lucky as I was seen to within 3 months which from what I understand is a rarity. There was one period where there was a lack of medication so there was a small pause in the titration process..but that is not the service's fault per se. The response to online queries is general prompt, the only thing i found mildly annoying is asking to fill weekly forms checking your height weight as if that's going to change so much as an adult, but the rest of it was a good experience.

Great advice and throrough explanation of all policies and processes throughout the entire time with my time with psychiatry UK. I was very happy with everything and have no complaints. I am very happy to feel so stable and it has changed my life for the better. A massive thanks to all involved, especially throughout the meds shortage and doing what they could to help during this time given the limitations.

I've been waiting for 10 months for ADHD assessment. I was recently refered by GP an Autism assessment, I had assessment today after a 4 month wait. After a 35 min interveiw was informed by the 2 autism specialists that ADHD masks Autism traits so assessment and medication for this is required prior to an Autism diagnosis, revealing to me that this was both a waste of their time and mine. First time I've had contact with Psychiatrist, I'm 45. To be told they couldn't make a judgement due to lack of adhd assessment when it's their own company that lied to me about a 6 month waiting time. The Dr's did not read my notes sent in advance of the meeting, I offered evidence from my childhood medical records but they have made decision with out consulting my evidence and did not seem particularly interested in other Dr judgements on my behaviour and communication issues!? Traumatic events were indicated for my Sensory issues that were present from birth. Autism diagnosed in family members seemed to be quickly disregarded and its left me feeling very dubious about this company's practices. Psychiatry-UK offer no support to clients regarding the reporting forms or post assessment support. My meeting started 5 mins late and issues with sound meant the assessment felt brief and I felt quickly dismissed a few mins in due to my ADHD referal pending. This company is highly unprofessional in they way it handles client interactions and communication. I would like a response from them regarding clinicans statement that they require an ADHD assessment and tritration medication period before they would be able to diagnose ASD as this process has been extremely stressful and upsetting for me today.

The service has been really good in allowing me to get my diagnosis and medication much quicker than via normal NHS waiting lists, and there's been flexibility over dosages and types of medication which I have appreciated. My prescriber, Sally Newport, was absolutely brilliant. Her communication and support has been excellent - she's always got back to me quickly, explained things really clearly and made me feel really supported, listened to and understood throughout this process! The shortage of Elvanse caused lots of issues for me but I received reassurance and updates throughout this period. I do have a point of feedback about the online system. I know it's likely the most feasible /fair/safe means of managing communication between prescribers and clients, and ensures it's all consistent and logged and tracked on the system, but I find having to login to an online system a more difficult means of communication than the likes of a phonecall or text, and I also think the layer of having to get the text code to login to the system - which admittedly only takes a few seconds!! - can sometimes feel like an extra barrier to being able to easily contact my prescriber/ ask for new prescriptions, fill in new forms etc. It's not the most ADHD-friendly to be honest! I also think it's a barrier for people who are digitally excluded or have dyslexia etc. who may have trouble conveying ideas effectively in writing. I know other means of communication would probably be too time consuming and hard to manage for the service and for prescribers, but I wonder if there are any small changes that could be made to make it more accessible.

Throughout the process of getting diagnosed and titration I found the staff I had contact with were very helpful, respectful and genuinely wanting to help the patients get the best out of their service. I don’t know if I can name specific names but my prescriber was particularly helpful and helped me navigate my way through the process and answered every single question I had. Titration was extended past the original amount of time as I hadn’t found the right dose yet and even though it took 4 months in total I felt that the focus was on finding what is right rather than rushing.

I had a really great experience with Psychiatry UK. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention specific names of doctors, so I won't, but my experience with pretty much everybody involved was great. I felt like everybody listened to my needs and answered my questions. There was one person who didn't, but my interactions with them were brief. I was later informed they no longer work there (for unrelated reasons, I didn't file a complaint), and the person that took over from them was absolutely wonderful. I feel the whole process has been really helpful for me and I'm happy with my treatment.

Diagnosis was ok, though the doctor was 15 minutes late to the appointment and seemed to rush through it. Titration was awful, I was just sent drugs and expected to get on with it, all my questions were ignored. There was no communication about when the titration period ended and I was left hanging for months not sure what was going on. I mentioned that the drugs didn’t work at all the week before my period and was just told they couldn’t do anything about that. I was also threatened with being discharged for not filling in the online form when I was doing it weekly.

Adult ADHD. It would of course be better if the NHS didn’t have to outsource. It would also be better in person. However given that it is a remote service that has a lot of IT automation, it was about as good as it could be. Great staff, sensibly done. Much much better than expected.
